Discover the Timberlands

The second-largest region in Arkansas, The Timberlands covers the Southeast through to the Southwest part of the state. Home to Texarkana, El Dorado and Pine Bluff, The Timberlands is best known for its hunting and fishing opportunities for visitors and residents alike. Stuttgart is known as the Duck Capital of the World, just a few miles north of Pine Bluff. Arkansas is perfectly positioned in the Mississippi Flyway, offering an abundance of waterfowl habitat for hunters to explore and home to a flourishing duck hunting season every year.

Mallards are the most common duck species found in Arkansas, but there are over 24 species to be found when hunting or touring the state. Over 100,000 waterfowl hunters gather in Arkansas each year to enjoy the sport and explore the flooded timber and rice fields of The Natural State.

Located on Arkansas’ south-central border, El Dorado is a hub for arts and festivals. The Murphy Arts District and South Arkansas Arts Center has hosted many famous musicians and entertainers, such as Train, Blackberry Smoke, The Avett Brothers and Ashley McBryde.

The Southern Arkansas Arboretum is a botanical garden owned by the local school districts and operates as the 50th Arkansas State Park. Located near South Arkansas College, the arboretum is a popular destination spot for those wanting to hit every state park.
